2022 Rainbow av querkraft

I en grönskande sluttning, med utsikt över Hanöbukten, har ett nytt verk smugit sig in. En blandning av ingenjörskonst och drömmar – en regnbåge i lättmetall. 15 meter lång sträcker den sig genom naturen, bryter av mot naturen och blir ett fint exempel på det som querkraft själva kallar ”poetisk pragmatism”.

Rainbow är stark och hållbar. Trots sin smäckra konstruktion tål den att klättra på, att rutscha nerför och den kommer att stå emot väder och vind under många år. Ställer man sig högst upp på bågen blickar man ut över världen. Sätter man sig under den får man skydd från regnet och en hemlig plats att drömma på.

Som ett komplement till Rainbow har performanceartisten Willi Dorner och fotografen Lisa Rastl skapat en serie bilder där människor interagerar med verket. De mänskliga kropparna fungerar som en förlängning av verket och är tänkta att inspirera besökarna att själva komma i närkontakt med regnbågen. Performancen genomfördes den 11–12 juni 2022 och bilderna ingår som en helhet i verket.

Om querkraft

Den österrikiska arkitektbyrån querkraft grundades 1998 och sedan dess har Jakob Dunkl, Gerd Erhartt och Peter Sapp genomfört ett hundratal projekt och företaget har vuxit till drygt 45 anställda. Under devisen ”Giving People Space” har de väckt uppmärksamhet runt om i världen med projekt både i offentlig och privat miljö. Ett av projekten, med anknytning till Sverige – IKEA-huset i centrala Wien – är en satsning på ett helt klimatsmart hus som ger innerstaden ett vackert, intressant och grönt inslag. Österrikes paviljong på arkitekturmässan i Dubai 2021 är en annan byggnad som blivit känd för sin spektakulära form med utgångspunkt i öknens byggnadstradition.

querkraft strävar efter en ”poetisk pragmatism” i alla sina byggnader. En byggnad ska bedömas i relation till hur väl den låter sina användare utvecklas och växa och den ska alltid sätta människan i centrum.

This season we are proud to, once again, welcome an international guest to Kivik Art Centre, querkraft architekten from Vienna, Austria.

On a pastoral slope, overlooking the Hanö Bay, a new piece of art has slipped in. It’s a mixture of skilled engineering and dreams – a rainbow of light grey metal. With a span of 15 meters it stretches through the surrounding nature an becomes an example of what querkraft themselves call “Poetic Pragmatism”. Rainbow is tough an durable. With its slender construction you can still climb on it and slide down its slope, and it will be resilient to weather and wind for many, many years. If you stand on top of it you will have a view of the world. If you hide underneath it you will be protected from the rain and have a secret place for your dreams.

As an addition to Rainbow, the performance artist Willi Dorner and photographer Lisa Rastl have created a series of photos where people interact with the sculpture. Human bodies become extensions of the artwork and will hopefully inspire the visitors to get into closer contact with Rainbow themselves. The photo performance was held on June 11-12 2022 and makes an integrated part of the artwork.

The Austrian architects office querkraft was founded in 1998 and since then Jakob Dunkl, Gerd Erhartt and Peter Sapp have realized over 100 project and grown to the considerable size of more than 45 employees. Under the motto “Giving People Space” they have been appreciated world-wide for both public and domestic buildings. Recently, and in connection to Sweden, they have completed the IKEA House in central Vienna. This is a fully climate neutral building, adding a beautiful and green place to the city centre. Also the Austrian Pavilion in the Dubai Architectural Exposition 2021 was widely spoken of, as it was so clearly rooted in traditional architecture of the desert areas and made in such a spectacular form.
