Matti Suuronen

Venturo

2009

Venturo was intended to be a “people’s cottage” – a holiday home that everyone could afford, demountable, easy to transport, and made from the futuristic material of the 1970s: plastic. But the 1972 oil crisis made plastic expensive, and only 19 houses were produced. Today, Venturo is a rarity, with only three examples remaining. Kivik Art Centre’s example is 45 m² and assembled from three modules. It was renovated in 2009 when it was placed in the park.
