David Chipperfield and Antony Gormley, Sculpture for The Individual Experience of Architecture
The work consists of three parts: the Cave, the Stage, and the Tower. All three parts have the same volume but different shapes. The three elements support each other and rely on one another for balance. Only one person may enter at a time, providing each individual with a personal experience of how the space affects them. The work is 18 meters high and contains 36 kilometers of rebar for stability.
This piece marks the first ever collaboration between David Chipperfield and Antony Gormley.
