The drawings for Nine Towers (for Jene) were originally a gift from the artist to his colleague Jene Highstein, who later donated them to Kivik Art Centre for construction.
The work is representative of minimalist artist Sol LeWitt’s practice, with its mathematical precision and strict compositions, all executed in simple building materials. A row of columns, a temple, a play of shadows that challenges the eye as it stands out against the sea.
